Rory was bought up between France and England, studying architecture at both Liverpool + Brighton university after which he first gained many years of experience in London, from working on the restoration and extension of elegant townhouses in the capital’s most exclusive addresses, working for renowned practices such as Ambo Architects, Butterfield & MacPherson, PJ Livesey group and the Fallows Gowen Partnership. His experience now ranges from contemporary lofts, luxury residential grade listed development conversions to private residential commissions including farmhouses, townhouses, grade II listed properties, country estates and substantial replacement dwellings. Over the past fifteen years Rory has acquired a reputation through designing over 63 individual projects.
He was also responsible for the validation of the University of Bolton's BA(hons) interior design degree and continues since 2009 to support the course and future design talent by acting as a professional industry advisor.
David has worked for many respected established Manchester architects including high end residential specialists the Fallows Gowen Partnership before deciding to break free and run his own practice alongside Fleur McCarten in 2012.
Fleur saw many years under the Fallows Gowen Partnership, from its inception to the close back in 2012. She established IOM Design Chartered Architects in 2012 alongside David before merging in 2015 with their previous colleague from FGP creating Maison IOM Architects.
